The Island in the "LOST: The Complete Collection"

In the "LOST: The Complete Collection" DVD/Blu Ray Set there will be a replica of the Island. Here is an high quality artwork showing all the contents of the set.

I corrected the perspective of the image, to show how the Island replica will appear.

It's, of course, visible a never-seen-before smaller island in the south-eastern coast: it appears that we have now confirmation of the position of Hydra Island. Hopefully, an helpful hint in locating all the places visited by the Losties on the Island.

Hey Quasark,

Thanks for the info and the link. Wow! That island looks kinda strange.
Do you know if it is in relief (3-d)?
I wonder how old this replica is supposed to be. There seems to be a of strange markings on it. But you must be right, it would have to be Hydra. I just looks different from Rousseau's map. I wonder why it doesn't show alex island, or two the smaller island with Hydra. Back to the drawing board I guess. :)
Thanks again,

Mike

No problem, Mike,

always glad to help :)
This DOES actually look different from Rousseau's Map. I noticed too that there are some missing little isles. And the general shape of the main Island is a little different from the one depicted in Rousseau's Map... Or that could even be a result of errors in re-scaling the image :)
I actually don't know if it's a 3D replica. From the look of it, that should be a real possibility. It would be awesome, I think.
As for the strange markings, I think they should be hieroglyphs or something. The press release from the set describes it as the cover of an "Egyptian style box".
At this link from DarkUFO there's an higher resolution image of the set. The hieroglyphs and other marks seem to be more clear, but I'm not an expert in those kind of stuff.

Hope to see a new update of your map (with the Hydra Island) soon :)
I'll do the best I can and post my update as soon as I can: LOST deserves it!

Hey Quasark,
I was thinking, what if this depiction of the island is thousands of years old (the weird hieroglyphics). What if that big island broke up into hydra and the other islands? Just throwing it out there. What are your thoughts, Mike.

Hey, Mike

I don't know what to think about that. It's probable, of course, and maybe it is because of someone who reached the Light and put it out, removing the "cork" (maybe even before Jacob and his brother came to the Island (carried by their mother Claudia, of course)). Maybe that's the reason "Mother" had to protect the Island from people.
But I also think that, at this point, is probably useless releasing a map of the Island that doesn't represent the actual Island, isn't it?
I can't really decide on this one. Your theory could possibly explain the fact that this new island is missing from Rousseau's Map, but also the fact that in that map are present a couple of smaller islands that aren't visible on this new "map".

Even now that Lost is over we still make theories and discuss about stuff. Isn't it awesome?!

Hey Quasark,
I was looking at the 'new islet' and I think it may be the 'triangle islet' at the bottom south east of the island. It's about the right size and shape. Why it moved is beyond me. It might also offer a clue as to why a cable would be there.
I'm not going to put to much credence into this map. I can only use Rousseau's map. This one is not cannon.
Thanks for the link to the maps to be auctioned. The third map was never revealed on the show and it seems to have a lot of info, but it is too blurry to read. I asked the auctioneers to provide an enhanced view. I hope they do.

Quasark,
I received the following response to my E-mail to the Auctioneers.

This is simply a preview of the items. A more extensive and detailed catalog will be produced in the coming weeks.

So, we will be able to get a clearer view of the maps fairly soon.

Wow! This is great news!
Thanks for the info!
I'm really looking forward to see this detailed catalog. Hope to see a clearer view of all the maps!
Thanks again!
Quasark.

Hey Qusark,

Have you been able to find a high quality image of the island? If I find one, I'll let you know.

No, unfortunately I didn't find anything better than this. I hoped to find something on lostpedia on this page shortly after the Complete Collection release, but still nothing.
I saw a lot of video on YouTube showing the map, but nothing useful can be made of those. The only information I got is that the black light used over the map shows a Donkey Wheel, a hint that would lead to a hidden bonus disk, but this is a completely different topic.
TinEye.com doesn't help either in this case.

Anyway, if I find anything better than this, I'll let you know as well.
